Pretty much any parent in the Puget Sound region has had some firsthand experience with Seattle Children's Hospital. My own son still remembers the time several years ago when we took him there in the middle of the night because  stomach pains had him doubled over in agony. (He was fine, as it turned out.) He has nothing but good memories of the experience because of the compassion and care he experienced at Children's -- plus, he liked having a TV in his room.

As you can imagine, things are busy at Children's right now. Here's how they put it:

For more than a century, Seattle Children’s has taken care of kids and families throughout our region; helping children live healthy and fulfilling lives through wars, recessions, and countless other barriers to wellness. Today, our world is facing a challenge unprecedented in our lifetimes. So many families, already worried for their sick child’s health, are counting on us to protect and care for them while we manage the challenges that come with COVID-19. They need our help.

Stepping up to spearhead that effort to help is a true Seattle sports hero, former SuperSonic Detlef Schrempf. Det has rallied athletes and influencers from around the Sound to come together on behalf of Children's, and you have a chance to join them via Det's Superstars Online Auction

Imagine owning one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia like a bat signed by Ken Griffey, Jr., or a team jersey signed by Russell Wilson, Jermaine Kearse, Shaquem Griffin, Sue Bird, or Det himself. How about a golf bag signed by Bill Murray, or a signed ball and Hall of Fame photo from Edgar Martinez? A round of golf with Detlef Schrempf and Charles Barkley? That sounds like fun.

Check out the link to the auction, or just to flat-out throw down a donation. The website is  and the bidding is open right now, so get after it! (The auction ends at the end of the day on June 11.)

It's such a worthy cause, especially right now, and Det is the real deal -- a sports hero who uses his fame for the good of humanity. I personally urge you to visit the site, check out the auction, and give whatever you can. It all helps.
