Trust us -- this is the only way to get the seeds out of a pomegranate

There are a lot of fancy tricks and delicate techniques for removing pomegranate seeds. You don't need those.

It's that time of year  . . . when people start putting pomegranate seeds in salads and other autumny dishes. In fact, my 8-year-old son sees the beautiful fruits on display at the West Seattle Thriftway and he wants to take one home and just gobble up handfuls of the sweet/tart ruby red seeds.

But for a lot of people, the task of extracting the seeds from the pomegranate is too challenging. It's messy, it's labor intensive, there's red juice dripping all over the place . . . you may well think it's not worth the time and hassle. Well, I'm here to tell you that there's a quick, easy, and dramatic way to make those seeds just rain out of that pomegranate.
