It's the first weekend of March, Spring is less than three weeks away, Daylight Saving Time begins next weekend, and the sun is shining this weekend! Now this is more like it!


  • Seattle Sounders FC Saturday, 7pm. The Sounders’ season opener against FC Cincinnati at CenturyLink Field.
  • Everett Silvertips Hockey Saturday, 7:05pm. It’s an I-5 hockey showdown when the Seattle Thunderbirds come to Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett.
  •  Seattle Thunderbirds Hockey Sunday, 5:05pm. The T-Birds meet the Tri-City Americans on home ice at ShoWare Centre.
  • Billy Bragg Friday, 9pm at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard.
  • Seattle Home Show Through Sunday. Exhibits about building, remodeling, decorating, and landscaping homes, at CenturyLink Field Event Center.  
  • Sewing and Stitchery Expo Through Sunday. Over 22,000 enthusiasts from across the world attend this annual gathering to get inspired with new ideas for the next project, rub elbows with the stars of sewing, and reconnect with friends. This year adding new classes, teachers, vendors, and resources. Washington State Fair Events Center in Puyallup.
  • Pig Day Out Friday, 12:45 – 3:30pm. Celebrate the Chinese year of the pig with pig races, live music, and a “pig pen” beer & wine garden at the Pike Place Market. See schedule. Free.
  • Poverty Bay Wine Festival Friday & Saturday. Live music, a magician, tastes of wine from 20 Washington wineries, and food to sample and buy in Des Moines Beach Park Auditorium for age 21+ to support charity.
  • Curiosity Days: Climate Change Friday – Sunday. Discover how climate change affects ecosystems, with hands-on activities, live science shows, and local scientists answering questions at Pacific Science Center.
  • Nordic Lights Film Festival Friday – Sunday. See contemporary films, both short and long, from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden at SIFF Cinema Uptown.
  • Washington Beer Open House Saturday. Get special tastings and tours at 60 craft breweries in Seattle and around the state during these Statewide beer events.
  • Lunar New Year Celebration Saturday, 11am – 4pm. Join the delayed celebration in the International District, which includes lion and dragon dances, drumming, Hawaiian & Thai dancing, a children’s parade, a costume contest, arts & crafts, and $3 food items. Free.
  • Lunar New Year Saturday. The celebration includes music, dance, crafts, martial arts, and food sampling in the Center Court at Bellevue Square. Free.
  • Cabernet Classic    Saturday, 6-9pm.Taste Cabernet Sauvignon from 25 producers with appetizers at this Wine tasting in Bellevue at Porsche Bellevue.
  • Snohomish Wine Festival Saturday. 10th Anniversary celebration with pours from 70 wines and sells food truck fare at Crossroads in Snohomish for age 21+.
  • NerdFaire Saturday. This self-proclaimed Nerd convention “is a mini con for all things nerdy and geeky” including board games, heroes from comics, and movie princesses at Lynnwood Convention Center. Children age 15 and younger are free with an adult.
  • Ailey II Dance Company  Saturday & Sunday. Described as “indefatigable, virtuosic, and relentlessly sexy” by the Los Angeles Times, young dancers perform an exhilarating and diverse repertory at the Pantages Theater in Tacoma.
  • Penn Cove MusselFest  Saturday & Sunday. Offering chowder tasting in shops, cooking demonstrations, mussel farm tours by boat, a beer & wine garden, mussel-eating competitions, and kids’ activities in Coupeville on Whidbey Island. Free.
