We had this idea last fall -- let's send a couple of dozen Krispy Kreme donuts every weekday to Sound listeners in workplaces from Tacoma to Everett, from Poulsbo to Carnation. Who doesn't like donuts, right?

And then we had an even better idea -- once a week, let's get in the car and actually deliver those donuts ourselves, so we can meet the hard-working people who are out there listening to Relaxing Favorites at Work every day. Well, it worked!  We called it Relax. Have a Donut. We took Krispy Kremes to all kinds of workplaces, from a three-person law office in Tukwila to an ESL preschool in Bellevue . . .

From a towing company in Burien to a police station in Federal Way (that's right, we brought donuts to cops,) from an organ transplant center on First Hill in Seattle to an HR exec's office at Amazon headquarters in South Lake Union, from a rough-and-tumble maritime shipping yard in Fremont to Joint Base Lewis McChord (a visit that involved a very time-consuming security check, obviously,) from a real-estate firm in Redmond to the offices of Holland America Line on Queen Anne in Seattle . . .

The biggest lesson Jeanne and I have learned from all of this is that it doesn't matter how fancy or plain a workplace is, it doesn't matter if it's a mom and pop shop or a tech giant . . . .  people love free donuts. And if you happen to be there when we make those in-person deliveries, we might even bring balloons, too . . . something we're super careful about ever since Jeanne let go of the string and sent a bouquet of helium-filled balloons into the trees across the street from a dental implant office in Renton.

Anyway. We took a little hiatus for the last few weeks, but we're back in action! We hope we can send you and your coworkers a couple of dozen Krispy Kremes sometime soon, or better yet maybe we can say hi when we do the delivery ourselves. The first step is entering, so go here, fill out a quick form, and clear a space on your desk for the KK boxes. Good luck!
